I was told that the battery needed to be replaced so i did that a month ago. With the ignition key on there is 12 4 volts at the coil terminal. I have a 1949 ford 8n front mount distributor. Ford 8n tractors are no exception.

Testing the ignition coil can be accomplished using a combination of two methods. The electrical system is still 6v positive ground. This electronic module kit by pertronix replaces your points and condenser. We are probably going to try again with the new condens.

Two months ago i tried to start this tractor but it would not start. It had been converted to a 12 volt alternator system. A friend asked me to see if i could get his recently purchased not running ford 8n tractor running he had no history on the tractor. Our tractor has no spark.

The ford 8n tractor was the successor to ford s 2n tractor and was manufactured between 1947 until 1952. It has a new battery and cranks fast but produces no spark at the plugs.
